About Pitbull 411

Hey there—John Parker here.

If you’ve found your way to Pitbull 411, chances are you either love pitbulls, live with one (or two), or you’re trying to separate fact from fiction about a breed that’s been misunderstood for far too long. Either way, you’re in the right place.

Who I Am

I’ve been a dog person for as long as I can remember. Growing up, there was always a dog somewhere in the picture—usually muddy, happy, and glued to my side. But it wasn’t until I got my first pitbull that everything changed.

Fast forward 20+ years, and I’m still just as hooked.

Today, I share my life with two incredible pitbulls, Max and Bella. They’re my daily reminder of why I started this journey in the first place—loyal, goofy, affectionate, and endlessly misunderstood by the outside world.

Why I Started Pitbull 411

Back in 2004, when I launched Pitbull 411, the internet looked very different—and so did the conversation around pitbulls. There was a lot of noise, a lot of fear, and not nearly enough honest, experience-based information.

I kept seeing the same thing over and over again: people judging the breed without ever having lived with one.

So I decided to do something about it.

This blog started as a simple idea—create a space where pitbull owners (and curious readers) could find real, practical, no-nonsense information. No hype. No fear-mongering. Just the truth, based on experience.

My Experience With Pitbulls

Owning pitbulls for over two decades teaches you a few things—some the easy way, some the hard way.

I’ve seen their strength, their sensitivity, their stubborn streaks, and their incredible capacity for love. I’ve trained them, hiked with them, dealt with their challenges, and celebrated their wins.

Max and Bella, my current partners in crime, are my favorite hiking companions. Whether we’re out on a quiet trail or just exploring new places, they bring the kind of energy and joy that reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment.

Living with pitbulls isn’t about managing a “dangerous dog.” It’s about understanding a powerful, intelligent, deeply loyal companion—and giving them the structure and care they deserve.
